The Race - Trofeu Borrufa

Ordino-Arcalis, Andorra

This competition will be held for the 18th time in 2010.

Great Britain has sent a Team on each occasion, and can claim two Gold medallists on the Honours list - Lorenzo Naylor in the Giant Slalom in 2001.  He also won bronze in SuperG.  In fact 2001 was a very good year for the GBR team.  Ross Rennie was third in Slalom, and Ed Drake fourth.  Not to be outdone, the girls also did well, with Pamela Thorburn placed fourth in SuperG and Helena Bray fourth in GS (Ch1).  We have had some very good results over the years, with several more top 5 placings.

In 2009 - Amy Donnellon was placed 1st in GS

In 2008 - Charlotte (Charlie) Guest was placed 1st in Slalom!!!!

In 2002, Louise Thomas and Calum Campbell both gained sixth places, and other British athletes were placed in the top 15.

In 2006, Alessia Thomas-Jackson was placed 3rd in slalom, and 5th (a podium place) in the first ever FIS Combi race.  James Filsell was 5th in GS.

The event has grown in size as it has grown in importance in the Calendar of international FIS Children's competitions, and last year some twenty six nations took part.  There is always TV coverage of the Opening Ceremony and the races on the Andorran television network.

Andorra and Val d'Isere are the only two European international events for this age group that incorporate Super-G.

Borrufa means 'little blizzard' in Catalan!
