                ABETONE    MARCH 2004.  MANAGER`S REPORT

Abetone 2004 was undoubtedly one of the best and most successful trips to Pinocchio sugli Sci and the achievement of coming 13th out of 35 teams with top 15 finishes in both Children 1 and Children 2 Boys was excellent.

The aim of this Camp was to create a happy, relaxed, stress-free and professional atmosphere in which the athletes could enjoy first class training and fulfil their racing potential. All these aims were achieved and most of the athletes skied or exceeded their current potential.

The training days were excellent when we were the first out on the hill so our trainers were able to choose the best slopes to set training runs for the athletes to practise techniques and racing skills. The race days were very well organised by the trainers who provided support and encouragement thus motivating the athletes to perform well and feel pleased with their runs.

As always, we were thoroughly spoiled by the staff and owners of The Sport Hotel in Abetone and treated to wonderful and enormous meals. The athletes all behaved well and received much praise from hotel staff for their politeness and manners. They were excellent ambassadors for British skiing and mixed really well with athletes from other Nations.

For me personally this was a most enjoyable trip with great children and extremely professional coaches.  Coming 13th in such good company was a real achievement and meant that the International season ended on a high note.
