Please pass this message on to everyone who may be considering travelling or you know has entered, I would rather he message was received 10 times than we missed someone.

Sophie Kimmerling 1994-2009

I know you will all want to join me in sending our sympathy to the family of former BCST member Sophie Kimmerling. Her mother Fiona writes: Sophie died in a tragic car accident on Sunday 4th October

The picture shows Sophie, far right front row, when she competed with the GBR team in foggy Slovenia in 2007. Our thoughts are with her family at this very sad time.

Race Allocations 2010 - Early Allocations

Please contact Susan Murrin susan@snowsportGB.com to accept your place, and also to let her know your travel arrangements around the time of your allocated race. there will always be an accompanied travel option from the UK (London), and also on most occasions from Geneva.

For info, the dates noted on the Calendar are the race dates. We appreciate that the first two races on the FIS Children's Calendar potentially overlap travel arrangements for the British Schoolgirls' and Schoolboys' Races. However, please note that full participation in the FIS events is compulsory; in particular please note below the requirements re the Andorra training day. It is, however, possible to combine the two with the BSRs, given parental support. Susan may be able to coordinate joint travelling plans when she has heard from all of you.

CZE  - Travel dates will be from Sunday 17th January to Sunday 24th January - we have a full weekof training and racing, competing in both the CZE national championships and the International Ski-Interkriterium event.  In previous years it has been possible to fly directly from Prague to Zurich for the BSR (with a parent's help), and from Prague to Geneva for the BSR girls' event, arriving on the Sunday (24th Jan), late afternoon or early evening.

AND - Outward travel from the UK will be early on Tuesday 26th January. Please note that you must be present for the training day/Opening ceremony on Wednesday 27th January. Return travel will be on Sunday 31st January. Anyone travelling on to Andorra from the BSRs must be prepared to move on from Flaine/Meiringen on the day of the second race. Please note that the road transfer from Barcelona to Ordino is quite long (5 hours by bus, 3+ hours by car). In previous years quite a few athletes have managed to participate in both events, either by missing the second BSR race and meeting the team in Barcelona on the Tuesday, or by travelling through the evening/night by plane/car (with a parent), arriving directly in Ordino.

Please contact Susan Murrin with any queries relating to travel, and to accept your race allocation.

LATEST (and BEST ! ) NEWS - The Skiers' Trust has once agreed to support the team with an extremely generous award towards the costs of the coming season.

The Skiers' Trust of Great Britain provides funding for young skiers, through bespoke funds maximised by gift aid.  Please visit www.skierstust.co.uk for more information.  We would like to encourage all parents to set up bespoke funds for their children, as already in place for The British Children's Team - this is one of the prime reasons for the Skiers' Trust's existence.

We are extremely grateful for their support!!!

Thanks to Switzerland Tourism for generously supporting some of the costs of the summer camp 2009!  For further details, visit their website at www.myswitzerland.com

Frant weekend - We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Lord and Lady Moynihan for generously hosting this event - helped by wonderful weather, this weekend (attended by 24 team members) was a great success! Photos will follow.

We were very pleased that Susan Murrin was able to come down from the Edinburgh office to meet everyone.

Thanks are also due to to Bryan Steel, and to the BOA, for the inspirational session on the Olympic pathway; also thanks to Bob Williamson (Commercial Director, SnowsportGB) for his helpful hints on seeking personal sponsorship.

Fundraising

The BCST Raffle gets off to a great start as parents return sold ticket stubs within 24 hours of the launch, and Shirley Stevens raises over £1300 for the Team with a sale of old kit! The more we can raise, the better supported we will be through the coming season, and this is the best possible start! Thanks a million, Shirley!!

Well done to all who came to Brunel and ran in the rain! I hope you enjoyed your day, and got to know some of the other athletes in the Team! Old hands will know that we do not publish the results of these tests, but if you would like to know the outcome, please contact gar@snowsportGB.com
